How do I want to develop my work in the future?

- I want to continue surprising myself, and learning new things.

- I want to become way more technically skilled.

I want my pieces to be unique, to not follow trends but be genuine to myself. They can be culturally related to myself, or not.

Which artists and references have inspired you?

Sin duda todos los artistas que más me gustan son los que se “incluyen” en su trabajo, que no solo es un proceso de sueño pero un proceso introspectivo. I really loved learning about Corita Kent. The BREAK DOWN project by Micheal Landy was one that really stood out to me, and Dear Data as well.

Which piece that you have created has been the most important for your personal practice?

Project: Building Blocks

Subject: Graphic design as a way to communicate through text

Aim: To create a modular typeface.

Medium: Digital

Impact: It can inform others and present them towards something they haven't seen before.

Threshold Concept: How I could integrate my unique cultural knowledge into modern design, kind of in reverence towards it.

Project: Made to Persuade

Subject: Graphic Design as a tool for change

Aim: To create a video which promotes or convinces the viewer of something.

Medium: Video

Impact: My video was convincing and seemed legitimate. Personally it led me to “discover” video advertising.

Threshold: Creating a strong idea and letting it speak for itself, learning new mediums.

Project: Guilty Pleasures

Subject: Narrative and desires

Aim: To create a short narrative communicating an idea.

Medium: Animation

Impact: It can lead to a re-evaluation, an introspection of some sort.

Threshold: Learned how to animate and create a video narrative, creating work that I feel is personal or genuine while also being graphic design.

Project: Graphic Objects

Subject: Scale and presence

Aim: To create two archetypal objects which can be scaled up or down.

Medium: Hand made objects

Impact: Create a fun, weird sense of surrealness by playing with scale

Threshold: I need to improve my craftsmanship, but by simply creating a strong object it can speak for itself, no frills necessary.
